Sunday Night Heats: End of a great racing weekend

Posted on October 22, 2007

I made it out to Sunday Night Heats at LeMans Karting tonight; 'twas a good finish to a great weekend of racing. I fared well, finished 4th in the final and had a best lap of 19.3s (18's are great drivers, 19's are good drivers, 20's are "learn your line!" times, and everything above that is for back markers) which is great because you figure every extra 10lbs add a tenth of a second to your time, and I'm about 30lbs over the weight I think I ...

Kimi Wins Formula1 World Championship!!!

Posted on October 21, 2007

It's been a long time coming! Tamarah and I have been big time Kimi fans for years and after unbearably bad luck season after season its great to see the Iceman take that title! Alanso's behavior this season has been horrible, and I'm glad to see him de-throned. For Lewis... it was his to loose, and he did. But frankly, the man of the hour is Felipe Massa, with that brilliant blocking move at the start and gracefully following orders to be ...

Formula1: Final Race This Weekend (Brazil)

Posted on October 19, 2007

The final race of the 2007 season is this weekend and its not something you want to miss! The top 3 drivers are all within 10 points of each other and mathematically any of them can clinch the title. Lewis Hamilton leads with 107 points, Fernando Alonso trails at 103, and Kimi Räikkönen is still in the hunt with 100 points. The likelyhood of Lewis Hamilton loosing the title fight are very low, but Alonso has been dirty this year and ...

A big thanks goes out to Ian, Jesse, Sara, and UC Santa Cruz for making the event so awesome. As with any gathering, no matter how smooth the event, good the food, or coordinated things are, its all about the attendees and that was the key focus of the weekend. On Friday night there was an informal reception ...

What Is Project Indiana? Explained

Posted on October 5, 2007

What is Indiana? No one seems to know. Some people are excited. Some people are confused. Some people are scared and angry. Why? What is Indiana? The answer is, "Exactly!" Not clear enough? Okey, let me explain more in depth. In order to do so, we need to break down some concepts so they are clear and then bring them all together, so bear with me. Part 1: What is Linux? It's a kernel. But I thought it was a distribu...

The State of the 2.5″ SAS Market

Posted on September 27, 2007

UPDATE: This blog entry discusses 2.5 inch SAS drives, NOT 3.5". Yes, 300GB 3.5" SAS disks are available, but in this entry we are solely concerned with 2.5" drives compatible with Sun Fire Galaxy Servers and other 2.5" based servers. Please don't mail me telling me that 300GB SAS Drives exist, look close, they are all 3.5" drives which I do not discuss here. In my last post regarding the new Intel based Sun Fire systems (X4150 ...
