SysAdmin of the Year!
28 07 06 11:39 by tamrHere he is, SysAdmin of the Year (nominee at least, so far): Ben Rockwood!

also known around here as Dad of the Year:
I am very proud to be his wife and watch him take over the world, and I know our kids are glad to have him as a Dad (they run around the house...well, the den...looking for him during the day). Happy SysAdmin's Day Sweetie!!
Too Cute Not to Post
21 07 06 02:23 by tamrI told you I was going to be cheerier this year, and look! Three cheery posts in a row!
But seriously, this mama giant anteater just had babies, and they're stinking cute. The worlds needs to know, which is why I'm posting pictures :)

"A new mother will join the throngs carrying babies around the Denver Zoo in the months to come.
Today the Zoo unveiled a 6-week-old baby giant anteater, and released pictures of the baby on his mother's back.
The baby is named Camilo, which is Latin for "child born to freedom." His father is named Freedom and his mother is Monita.
Monita is a first-time mother, according to a statement released by the zoo.
Baby anteaters typically ride on their mother's back for most of their first year of life, aligning their markings with their mother's, in order to fool predators.
Camilo
and his mother can be viewed at the zoo's Primate Panorama exhibit
between 9 and 11 a.m. The amount of time each day will expand as he
becomes used to the habitat."
WAY CUTE :)
Abducted by Love
19 07 06 13:24 by tamrI read this story yesterday, but I ran across it again and it's just so sweet: Apparently this guy was ready to pop the question to his girlfriend, so he got her dad and brother to dress up as aliens in a UFO shop in New Mexico and abduct her, and then he went in and rescued her from the aliens, and proposed. (she said yes) It's just such a sweet story :)
"Savedra and Ash were touring the museum when a silver-suited, masked alien from an exhibit called "alien autopsy" suddenly abducted Ash from in front of a group of tourists. Savedra dashed through the crowd, fought two aliens and rescued her.
Then he dropped to his knees, presented her a ring and asked her to marry him."
Pop Art
17 07 06 00:06 by tamrI was just cooling down and flipping through bookmarks I don't remember, and I found some Pop Art, which is pretty good stuff.
I found Lisa Ballard, and her stuff is just amazing. You gotta see it:

But my favorite is:
Paul Simon Lyrics
15 07 06 14:27 by tamrI need to find this song...it's one of my favorite songs, and I don't have it.
It's been a long, long day
I got some run-down shoes
Ain't got no place to stay
But any old place will be okay
It's been a long, long day
I sure been on this road
Done nearly fourteen years
Can't say my name's well known
You don't see my face in Rolling Stone
But I sure been on this road
Slow motion
Half a dollar bill
Jukebox in the corner
Shooting to kill
And it's been a...
It's been a long, long day
I sure could use a friend
Don't know what else to say
I hate to abuse an old cliche
But it's been a long, long day
Its been a long, long day
David Spade?!!
07 07 06 11:01 by tamrOkay, typically I don't read tabloids (no, really), but I woke up super early this morning and I veered away from the North Korea missles and read this (which you will notice is an msnbc news page, which is what I was really reading...no, really!):
David Spade hearts Heather Locklear
David Spade reportedly wants to get hitched to Heather Locklear.
“I’m so in love it’s ridiculous,” Spade told a “friend,” according to Life & Style weekly. “Never in my life did I think I’d be with someone so gorgeous and successful. She knows I’m going to ask. It’s all about timing.”
Spade’s rep issued a “no comment,” but the mag reports that the “Just Shoot Me” star plans to pop the question this summer.
David Spade has been dating Heather Locklear?! W.O.W. Talk about hitting the mother lode with that one. Rock on :)
What is the Pursuit of Happiness?
04 07 06 16:17 by tamrFark.com had a good survey article on "what does 'the pursuit of happiness' mean to you?"
Happy 4th of July, btw!
I thought I'd post some good responses:
Zeppo Nightshade
/three years next week
Nabb1
SchlingFo
I know that's not a very complex or detailed answer, but it's a pretty simple issue to me.

With personal freedom comes responsibility, but the right to be stupid in others' opinion, as well.

But yeah, doing anything to be near the ones you love (and love you back) is probably it, now...
*slaps forehead* I KNEW I should've turned at Albuquerque.
My own idea of the pursuit of happiness?
Something along the lines of being grateful for being alive (it seems silly and overused, but it is a big deal for me), being able to vote (another biggie for me), being able to attend a university and kick ass in it, being able to stay home and raise Ben and my children (another very big deal) and of course being married to the greatest man on earth, and pursuing insight into what God created....I'm talking about nature and crazy things like physics, and wtf is up with the platypus...that kind of stuff. There is so much stuff "out there," I just want to check it out and enjoy myself doing so. Oh sure, sometimes you step in buffalo patties when you're trekking across the wilderness, but the smell goes away after a while, and you're left with the incredible memory of finding fox sparrows taking baths on leaves just showered with water (that happened the other day...it was amazing to watch, those things were so tiny). I think that is my pursuit of happiness. Just chillin :)
