Notes on GIMP for Solaris (v1.1.30 - 12/20/00) ------------------------- Just some quick comments to prepare you for GIMP. First off, if you are trying to run GIMP without installing E, you'll need to install all the graphics libraries, GTK/GLIB, and Imlib. You almost might as well just install E. For instructions on this see the download page. I've found that sometimes when I start GIMP E will segfault. All the borders of the windows will be "scrambled" (color messed up), which is the indicator. I haven't figured out why this happens, and its not always consistant. Anyway, IF this happens E will give you 3 options (Retry, Restart, Exit). DO NOT EXIT! If you exit you'll end up back at a DTLOGIN screen and have to do it all over again. Instead, let E restart. Once E restarts GIMP will start up, and you won't have the problem again untill you log out. If I find a fix I'll make the change, but for now just live with it like this. Also, this package is VERY LARGE. The installation into /usr/local will suck up 90.9M, on top of all its requirements. For info on using TrueType fonts please see the download page. -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------- Ben Rockwood - benr@cuddletech.com --------------------------------------------------------
